Location: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Hosted by MIT Graduate Student Council.

With its café, bookstores, and student community, Cambridge is often referred to as “Boston’s Left Bank.” Central Square is known for its international restaurants and music clubs, and Harvard Square for its bookstores and street performers. You’ll find award-winning improv comedy in Inman Square. Kendall Square is home to MIT, and is the center of the high tech and biotechnology industries in Massachusetts. In North Cambridge, Porter Square boasts the region’s largest concentration of Japanese eateries and shops, and in nearby Somerville, Davis Square hosts a vibrant arts community.

Conference Highlights: As part of the conference experience we are touring the campus including the MIT dorms, visiting the famous Thirsty Ear Pub, soaking up art at the Museum, enjoying nights out on the town in Cambridge and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Boston! Did you know that Boston is has the largest Irish population outside of Ireland?

The conference will feature networking and educational opportunities for all attendees, including sessions with keynote speakers. Programs will showcase both regional innovations and best practices as well as opportunities to delve into the latest hot topics in higher education through featured sessions, workshops, and discussion groups.

Transportation

Flying: The cheapest way to get from Logan International Airport to MIT or the Marriott is to hop on the free MBTA Silver Line bus, which stops at each terminal.  The Silver Line will take you to South Station, where you can purchase a CharlieTicket.  Follow the signs to take the MBTA Red Line (subway) Inbound to Alewife via Park St.  Get off at Kendall/MIT Station, four stops after South Station.  When you exit the subway to street level, you will be on the same block as the hotel.  The entrance is in the back of a plaza in between the MIT COOP and Chipotle.  The MIT campus is across the street.  You can also take a cab (costs around $35-$40).

We are excited to present Greg Lukianoff as the keynote speaker.

Greg Lukianoff is an attorney and the president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE). He is the author of Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship and the End of American Debate and his writing has appeared in The Washington PostThe New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe, in addition to dozens of other publications. He is a regular columnist for The Huffington Post and has frequently appeared on television, including the “CBS Evening News,” “Fox & Friends,” and “Stossel.” He received the 2008 Playboy Foundation Freedom of Expression Award and the 2010 Ford Hall Forum’s Louis P. and Evelyn Smith First Amendment Award on behalf of FIRE. He is a graduate of American University and Stanford Law School.
