The Northeast region is home to the highest concentration of the world’s leading universities and colleges. Universities in the region are known both for their longevity and their reputation. Number one graduate programs in business, law, medicine, engineering, biological sciences, computer science, mathematics, physics, sociology, economics, history, public affairs, and political science are all found at universities in the Northeast, according to the U.S. News & World Report. There are many well-known universities in the region, both public and private. The Northeast is also home to all eight of the historic and renowned Ivy League universities.
