NAGPS Institute – Old

The National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS) believes strongly in data-driven advocacy and sharing information with graduate and professional students, its member schools, non-member schools, and others interested in higher education advocacy. The surveys and data come from NAGPS’ graduate and professional student organizational members.

  1. NAGPS surveys will be designed and created by either NAGPS’ Leadership, NAGPS’ member Graduate and Professional Student Organizations (GPSOs). Non-member GPSOs and other organizations may also share their data for distribution with the agreement from NAGPS Leadership.
  2. All NAGPS surveys will be co-branded. That is, NAGPS surveys will have either the NAGPS’ logo or both the NAGPS’ logo and the logo of the GPSO or other organization that conducts or collects survey data or compiles datasets.
  3. All surveys and datasets will need to be approved by the NAGPS’ Board of Directors prior to be uploaded to the NAGPS website.
  4. The NAGPS requires that GPSOs and other organizations who share survey questions, survey results, and datasets agree that information shared was collected either directly by the GPSO or have a strong campus and vendor partners who willingly allow that information collected reflect graduate and professional student voices.
  5. NAGPS requires two conditions:
    1. GPSOs commit to adhering to survey results no matter if the results run contrary to the GPSO or NAGPS’ stated advocacy
    2. Campus partners do not seek to undermine the results of GPSO surveys in any meaningful way
  6. The NAGPS values clear representation of the graduate and professional student experience in order to enhance the life of students and the mission of all universities. Therefore, the NAGPS commits to statistically valid and reliable surveys, meaning adherence to policies that prevent adulteration or modification of results.
  7. NAGPS will commit to sharing the best surveys possible and engaging in the best survey practices. By the “best,” we mean that the surveys we develop on our own or in concert with others with be the most statistically valid and reliable surveys possible, and the interpretations of those results will be trusted by the graduate and professional students, campus communities, local, state, and federal groups as non-biased truthful results.
  8. NAGPS will seek partners to develop surveys who will abide by the principles outlined above.
