Denisha GriffeyAs Director of Administration, Denisha Griffey maintains NAGPS’ information systems, coordinates Board member activities, keeps minutes at all meetings, and ensures all governing documents and procedures are followed in the Association’s activities.Denisha is a PhD student at Western Michigan University (WMU), where she is currently conducting research in the areas of geochemistry and environmental remediation. Prior to coming to WMU she received her BA and MS degrees in chemistry from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Tennessee State University respectively.

Denisha has always had the passion the lead and has done so in many capacities throughout her academic career. Upon entering WMU, she become very involved the working with the graduate college. This led to her position as a Graduate College Ambassador, a position which she held for two years. As an ambassador she became very involved with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) serving on both the Constitutional Committee and the Graduate Financial Allocations Committee, where she was very instrumental in rewriting the constitution and bylaws for the association.  Also, Denisha served on the GSA executive board as the Legislative Chair for one year. Most recently her leadership endeavors has led her to revive the Graduate Students of Color (GSOC) organization at WMU where she currently serves as the President.

Being involve in NAGPS has provided Denisha with many opportunities to lead, network, and form friendships that would last a lifetime. Prior to being elected as the Director of Administration; Denisha served as the Midwest Regional Chair and the Midwest Director of Legislative Affairs.
