First annual NAGPS Gala Fundraiser

Sponsor the NAGPS Gala

The first inaugural NAGPS Fundraiser Gala is a slated to be our Annual showcase event that commends the work being done to support the efforts of the organization.

Expanding the Horizons of Higher Education. This event is slated to take place on March 14th, 2015 at the Ronald Reagan Center in Washington DC at 7:30 pm. This will be held in conjunction our biannual advocacy training and legislative action days, where delegations representing the various member institutions of NAGPS will gather in DC to advocate for legislative action that seeks to better the lives of millions of graduate and professional students across the nation.

There has probably never been a more important time for for graduate-professional students in higher education to have their voices heard than now. All across the country we see graduate-professional students mobilizing and speaking out to advocate for better treatment with regards to graduate worker rights, excessive student debt and unfair treatment in the student loan program, poor stipends and lack of institutional support, and an improved F-visa process for international students. NAGPS has been been that voice for graduate-professional students for 30 years, and with your help we can be an even stronger and more effective voice for the next 30.

This fundraising event will support NAGPS’s activities in social justice advocacy, legislative advocacy, international student advocacy, leadership and professional development that help students become better leaders and advocates, and promotes the support of higher education and research in the United States.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Suzanne Ortega, President of the Council of Graduate Schools.

NAGPS is a non-profit organization that represents graduate and professional students in advocacy. It is our mission to advocate on behalf of graduate and professional students, those who strive to change the social, political and economic landscape. Our goal is to put our foot in the door to allow future generations access to the same growth and development. NAGPS works to develop graduate and professional students initiatives and build the resources to further the back bone work that we do.

Our goal for this event is to inform the education community of the needs of graduate students across the country and to create a foundation of support for the legislative, social justice, and international efforts of NAGPS. Additionally, this event will reintroduce the new brand of NAGPS to the education community, and provide a point of reference for our image as we reestablish our home in DC.
