Join us for the Western Regional Conference at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles on April 18-20, 2014.
The NAGPS Western Regional Conference is an excellent opportunity to network with other graduate and professional student leaders in your region, develop a strategic plan for your organization, and gain valuable leadership skills. Most importantly, the Western Regional Conference focuses on higher education issues specific to our region and provides a forum to share successful advocacy strategies at the university, local and state level.

NAGPS has secured a conference rate of $125 per night at the Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Midtown at USC, which is conveniently located next to campus.

Transportation to and from the airport can be reserved through Super Shuttle.

2014 NAGPS Western Regional Conference Call for Proposals
The NAGPS Western Regional Conference serves as a forum where student leaders from the region come together to share best practices, learn about national platforms, and grow in their understanding of issues relevant to graduate students in the West.
As such, we invite each school that will attend the conference to present on a topic or facilitate a discussion on an issue relevant to graduate and professional students. Each discussion will be 30 minutes.
Listed below are the topics that Western Regional Members would like to discuss at the conference. Please select a topic that your organization has experience with.
Primary Sessions
Common challenges faced in running a GSO and how they were overcome
Programs undertaken by GSOs to improve the graduate and professional student experience on campus
Lessons learnt from conducting grassroots campaigns, such as National Congress Call Day
Brainstorming Sessions
How to start a graduate mentoring program in your GSO
Scholarships and grant programs started by graduate student governments
How to overcome differing funding structures across graduate school departments and apply for external funding
Discussion on comprehensive health care for graduate and professional students, including those with families
Professional Development Sessions
How to work successfully in teams and produce results
How to use the NAGPS community in career development
Choices after your degree – industry, academia, government and non-profit
How to use LinkedIn and other social media effectively for networking and the job search

The Western Regional Conference is an occasion to perform some of the important business of NAGPS, including updates to our governing documents and the election of our leadership.
