Director of Social Justice Concerns
Gwen Chodur is the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students Director of Social Justice Concerns for 2020. Her goal for the year is to build NAGPS’s collaboration with national groups who advocate for social justice concerns. Her vision is for NAGPS to be visible and vocal in national, state, and local advocacy issues. Gwen is a Ph.D. candidate in Nutritional Biology at the University of California-Davis. Her research investigates post-prandial modulations in microRNA profiles following dietary fat intake. In addition to her role with NAGPS, Gwen is the External Vice-President of UC Davis’s Graduate Student Association, the President of the Nutritional Biology Graduate Student Advisory Committee, and a member of the Executive Council for UAW 2865. Before attending UC Davis, Gwen earned a BS in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University and a MSPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is also credentialed as a Registered Dietitian. In June 2019, Gwen helped open a graduate student food pantry at UC Davis. In addition to her roles in NAGPS and the UC Davis GSA, she is also a member of the executive council for UAW 2865, which represents 19,000 graduate students across the University of California system.
