Help us reach our goal of raising $25,000

Support NAGPS in its mission to advance the well being of graduate-professional students in higher education!

Without the incredible support of our members, donors, partners, and friends the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS) would not be where it is today. The rapidly changing political climate in the United States has been posing significant challenges to higher education, including, but not limited to:

  • International student education (travel ban, OPT/CPT, F, J, and H type visas),
  • Funding cuts for both STEM and non-STEM research
  • Mental health, health insurance, on and off campus safety (sexual and relationship violence)
  • Attacks on Title-IX regulations
  • Grad worker rights.

NAGPS has been fighting for these concerns on behalf of the graduate-professional student community by engaging with policymakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for policy and legislation advances higher education and supports graduate-professional student well-being; by providing training and leadership development opportunities our members; and empowering our members to affect change on their campuses, in their states, and nationally. Some of our achievements include:

We are fortunate to have extremely passionate graduate student advocates who have been providing  their time and energy. However, there are financial limitations which block our progress whenever we aim to expand the reach of our advocacy. Thus, we are asking you to contribute to our efforts by making a donation which will help change lives for generations of graduate students to come! We need your help to tell your stories!

Think back on the ways the graduate experience has changed your life and how it affects society as a whole. How difficult it would have been if your tuition waiver was taxed, funding for your research was inadequate, or your stipend did not justify the amount of work you did? How much had you suffered if you had to pay twice for the health insurance, or had no access to proper counseling and mental health care centers? What if you were required to go back and renew your visa every year, or forced to leave in between your studies due to an executive order issued by the president of the United States? Unfortunately, the current and future graduate students might be subjected to all of these. With more than 30 years of advocacy experience and many grand success stories, we aim to accelerate our advocacy effort to find amicable solutions to these problems.

By making a small gift to NAGPS you can help ensure that current, as well as future, graduate-professional students have access to adequate research funding and fellowships, affordable loans, simplified visa issuance and renewal processes, better healthcare, childcare, paid leaves, and smooth transition to the work visa and green card etc. Our goal is to raise $25,000 through this campaign.

Why should you give? There are lots of good reasons

You can improve the life of graduate students. You can help current, as well as future, graduate students have or even improved experiences than you have/had during your graduate studies.

It’s a way to honor the community that helped you succeed. By giving, you’re thanking all the advocates who worked tirelessly to help you earn your graduate degree.

You can support any of the issues that are important to you. Visa renewal;  Immigration; An adequate stipend; Healthcare and mental health; Childcare subsidies;  Paid maternity leave. Your support can go to whatever issues are important to you.

It feels good. By doing something for the community that you belong, you can get a sense of satisfaction and protecting the future of graduate education.

It’s easy. Give quickly online using your debit.

It doesn’t have to be a lot. Every gift—whether it’s $10, $20,  $100, or whatever you can afford to give—enables us to advocate for  more and more issues that affect our lives in graduate school. Your participation is what matters.
