Director of External Affairs

Introduction
I am Joseph Gbandi, a final year MA student in Political Science and a second-year Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) student in Instructional Technology and Innovative Studies, both at Ohio University, USA – 2020 to date.
I hold a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Information Systems and Business Analytics from Park University in Kansas City, Missouri, USA – 2018 to 2020
I have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and French (combine major) from the University of Ghana – 2011 to 2016.
Positions
Currently, I am the Director of External Affairs, National Association of Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS).
I am also the Commissioner for Graduate Affairs, Housing at Graduate Student Senate, Ohio University.
I serve as a Board member for Ohio University Graduate Council.
I was the Chief of Staff of the University of Ghana Student Representative Council, 2014/2015 academic year.
I was the president of the International Students Association for Year Abroad Students in Cotonou, Benin, 2014/2015 academic year.
Work Experiences
I have been a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Ohio University since 2020.
I worked as a Business Analyst at Trillium Recruitment Agency from 2020 to 2021.
I have 15 years of work experience in the Ghana Armed Forces, serving in various capacities.
In the Ghana Armed Forces, I started as an administrative assistant but became an instructor and taught French for peacekeeping, Traditional Security, and Defense Intelligence. As a result, I have had the opportunity to participate in numerous peacekeeping missions in various parts of the world, including Lebanon, Syria, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, and South Sudan. Furthermore, in most of these countries, I served as an instructor (teacher) or Intelligence Operative.
I aspire to be in academia, focusing on using Information Technology to conduct empirical research about issues that bother international security with its effect on tertiary education.
Interests
I enjoy watching detective movies, following world politics, playing soccer, and watching sports.
