As Southeast Regional Chair, Andrew George serves as a liaison between the NAGPS Board of Directors and the members of the Southeast region. Additionally he helps the Director of Outreach with the recruitment and retention of member schools, as well as facilitate in the planning the regional conference.
Andrew George is a 4th year PhD student in the Biology department and Program in Cell and Molecular Biology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. His graduate research utilizes the sea urchin Lytechinus variegatus to understand how an animal develops from an embryo into an adult.
In addition to his role in NAGPS, Andrew is currently serving as the Director of Advocacy for Duke’s Graduate and Professional Student Council. He is also a 2016 Emerging Leaders in Science and Society Fellow through AAAS.
