Neleen Leslie | Immediate Past President

Dr. Neleen S. Leslie is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. She holds a PhD in Mass Communication from Florida State University as well as M.S. degrees in Measurement and Statistics and Integrated Marketing and Management Communication, also from Florida State University. Her research focuses on Multicultural Marketing Communication, Branding, Advertising and Intercultural Communication.

She is a native of the island of Jamaica where she lived, studied and worked prior to coming to the United States. She attended the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a minor in International Business. Neleen also did a stint in the Jamaican marketing industry as Brand Manager at one of the country’s largest distributors.

After being awarded a Fulbright scholarship in July of 2010, Neleen moved to the United States to pursue a MS in Integrated Marketing Communication at Florida State University. She earned her master’s degree in 2011 and began the PhD program in the spring of 2012. During the course of her studies, she became interested in receiving more specialized statistics training; as a result, she enrolled in the Measurement & Statistics master’s degree program in the College of Education at Florida State University.

Dr. Leslie served as President & CEO of NAGPS in 2014 and she also served as Director of Communications on the 2013 NAGPS Board of Directors. Currently, she is a member of NAGPS’ Advisory Board. In addition to her work with NAGPS, Neleen is involved in student life at FSU. She currently serves as a Representative in the 23rd Congress of Graduate Students at Florida State. She also participated in the Global Ambassadors Program (GAP) organized by the Center for Global Engagement at Florida State University where she visited local schools and community organizations to present information about the culture, customs and history of Jamaica.

Her goals as the Immediate Past President include establishing the NAGPS DC Office, improving the efficiency of the NAGPS’ Advisory Board, and improving the overall structure of NAGPS.
